Gandhinagar: Looking to leverage the accomplishments of successive Vibrant Gujarat Global Summits (VGGS), the Gujarat govt on Thursday announced the launch of the regional version of VGGS. This initiative focuses on highlighting the strengths of different regions and promoting local products at the international and national levels.Four Vibrant Gujarat regional conferences (VGRCs) will be held between Oct and June for the North Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch, South Gujarat, and Central Gujarat regions. These conferences aim to create a platform to attract investments in districts that have favourable ecosystems for select sectors, chief minister Bhupendra Patel told reporters in Ahmedabad on Thursday.Officials said that Japan agreed to be a partner country for the first regional conference to be held in Mehsana on Oct 9 and 10 this year, said a senior bureaucrat. The VGRC for Saurashtra-Kutch will be held at Rajkot on Jan 8 and 9. The South Gujarat VGRC will be held at Surat on April 9 and 10, and the regional conference for Central Gujarat will be held at Vadodara on June 10 and 11.The CM said that over the past 22 years, the 10 editions of VGGS helped Gujarat create a large number of employment opportunities and attract foreign direct investment."To realise the PM's vision of promoting local products on a global scale, the state govt is coming up with this unique initiative of VGRC. These regional conferences will help attract investment in districts which already have a favourable ecosystem for a particular sector or sectors. The events will prove to be a game changer for the development of districts," the CM remarked.Industries commissioner P Swaroop said that the 11th edition of the VGGS will be held in January 2027 and all four VGRCs will be held on the VGGS pattern. "Each regional event will have an inaugural event, B2B (business-to-business) and B2G (business-to-govt) meetings, an exhibition, a trade show, sector-specific seminars, and the inauguration of major projects. It will also have industrial tours, reverse buyer-seller meets, and an award ceremony," he said.The official added that each regional conference will be preceded by a one-day district-level programme, and countries and international business and trade bodies will be invited to be partners in each of the regional conferences.
