Operation Sindoor logo dropped from VNSGU convocation invite

Surat: Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) had initially planned to highlight Operation Sindoor during its 57th convocation by featuring its logo on the invitation card. However, the logo was later removed for unspecified reasons. The convocation, scheduled for Aug 29, will see 40,745 students being awarded degrees, including 57 PhDs, in the presence of Gujarat governor and VNSGU chancellor Acharya Devvrat and minister of state for education Praful Panseriya.VNSGU registrar Ramesh Gadhvi said, "We thought of keeping the logo on the invitation to send a message of patriotism among students. However, after discussion in the university meeting, we decided to remove it. The invitations with the logo were inadvertently sent."Since cards carrying the logo had already reached many people, including the media, questions arose about its withdrawal. Sources said some officials felt the Operation Sindoor theme could shift focus from education to patriotism. They suggested holding a separate programme for the celebration.Meanwhile, state health and education minister Rishikesh Patel will visit the campus on Friday to inaugurate the Central Library and Knowledge Resource Centre as well as the Biotechnology Bhavan. However, his name does not feature in the convocation guest list.
