IAF to conduct two-day military exercise in Arabian Sea near Gujarat and Rajasthan from Sept 2 to 3

The Indian Air Force (IAF) will carry out a two-day military exercise over the Arabian Sea, near Gujarat and Rajasthan, from 11 am on September 2 to 2 pm on September 3. The exercise zone lies close to Pakistan’s airspace. Officials have described it as a routine training drill. A NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) has been issued to alert pilots and aviation authorities about the temporary restrictions. Advertisement A NOTAM is an aviation advisory that provides time-sensitive updates on temporary hazards, airspace restrictions, or changes not yet reflected in standard flight manuals. Issued by authorised aviation bodies under international guidelines of the Convention on International Civil Aviation (CICA), these notices use standardised abbreviations and formats to ensure quick, clear communication for safe flight operations. An Indian Army contingent has already arrived to participate in the 14-day drill, the Ministry of Defence confirmed on Monday. The exercise will feature a wide range of tactical training, including heliborne operations, mountain warfare, rock craft techniques, casualty evacuation, and the integrated use of artillery, aviation, and electronic warfare systems. Troops will also practice with surveillance equipment and unmanned aerial systems (UAS). In addition, experts from both armies will conduct sessions on UAS and counter-UAS operations, information warfare, communications, and logistics management. The drills will culminate in a final phase of live-fire exercises and simulated high-altitude combat scenarios, aimed at strengthening interoperability for UN peacekeeping missions and enhancing joint preparedness for multi-domain security challenges.
