Heavy rainfall expected in the state; orange alert issued in several districts- The Week
The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of Gujarat over the next seven days. An orange alert has been issued for Kheda, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod and Vadodara in the state for the next 12 hours. Orange alert has also been issued for Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Dang and Tapi for Wednesday and Thursday. Light to Moderate rain/thundershowers very likely at most places in all the districts of North Gujarat region namely Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar; at most places in all the districts of South Gujarat region namely Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad and in Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli; at a few places in all the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch namely Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Botad, Kutch and in Diu, the IMD said in a release. People have been asked to be careful about the falling of trees, branches and advertising hoardings as the rains will be accompanied by gusty winds. Three districts in central Gujarat—Panchmahal, Anand, and Mahisagar—were among the worst affected.
